It’s the weekend and there’s nothing better about the weekend than the quiet mornings. I’m naturally an early riser and I’m okay with that. I wake up just as the sun is peaking through the trees and I quietly get my morning started. My SO stays in bed for a few more hours after me and wakes up only after the best part of the day has passed.
I used to use this time to run in the morning but since I’ve moved to Miami running has been less than enjoyable (it feels like running with a wet blanket wrapped around my face).
Now I use this time to do some yoga and meditation. I also use this time to indulge in coffee (*gasp* yes I drink coffee) and read.
Once the boy is up we get dressed and head off into our adventure. It usually involves the beach, bikes or kayaks, and lots of sunscreen.
Taking the time to care for yourself and indulge in healthy practices does wonderful things for your brain. Meditation lowers stress, alleviates depression, makes your perform better, helps regulate brainwaves and bodily functions (including hormones!), helps you deal with emotions, changes your brain structure, and is a great way to start the day. Being outside exposes you to fresh air, nature, other people, and most importantly the sun. These things are excellent mood boosters as well as helpful when you’re wanting to build a natural glow.
And like Elle says in Legally Blonde: “Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands.”
One of the best ways to be your best possible version of yourself is to just get up and pretend you are the best possible version of yourself. It really is that easy. If you do it enough then eventually, that’s who you are, and that is what your brain knows to do. So instead of waiting until you are adventurous to do something adventurous do it anyway!
So get those endorphins flowing and get your glow on!
What do YOU do on the weekends??
